Chunxilu Chengdu
Shopping in China
China is one of the best places to have a vacation. The massive country is like a world of its own and is full of interesting places to visit and fun things to do. When visiting China one should not just stick to the main destinations like Beijing, but explore everything that the country has to offer. Tourists looking for a vacation spot that is a little off the beaten track can try taking a trip to Chengdu. Located in the country’s Sichuan Province, Chengdu is renowned for its thriving agricultural industry. When in Chengdu there are several places that one must not miss, this includes the shopping district of Chunxilu.
Chunxilu is a massive retail area located in Chengdu, which is also noted for its interesting architecture. At its centre one can find a tiny public square featuring a statue of Sun Yat-sen, the Father of the Nation. The upscale area gets its name from Chunxilu Road, which is filled with shops. The road was established in 1924 and was highly commercialised even then. The road was a major traffic artery and attracted the presence of many merchants. Although Chunxilu is about twenty hectares in area, the road itself is only a little over a kilometre long.
In total, there are around seven hundred shops in the area. These range from small places to large department stores. Nearly all major local and global brands are represented here. There are six major shopping malls and department stores here: Parkson, Isetan, Chicony, Wangfujing Department Store, Pacific Department Store, and Ito Yokada. It is easy to get here on foot from Tianfu Square; a local should be able to point the way.
China is a massive country and while most major cities have excellent infrastructure, some places do not. Those interested in exploring the country should try to get accommodation with a hotel chain like the Millennium & Copthorne Hotels China, which offers a series of luxury Greater China hotels. It is the ideal option for tourists looking for hotels in China as it ensures uniformity in service and minimises the hassles of making multiple bookings.
