Hua Hin Night Market
A Taste of Thailand
Hua Hin is a peaceful beach resort town in Thailand that is proving to be equally popular with locals as well as foreigners. Located in the Malay Peninsula’s northern side, it was the vacation spot of the royals in the early 1920s. Aside from occasional rainfall, the town enjoys perfect beach weather throughout the year. The best time to visit is during the cool season which is between November and February. The cosy laidback town is ideal for vacationers looking forward to some rest and relaxation. Among the things that are considered ‘must do’s’ are scuba diving, visiting the Sam Roi Yot National Park and going shopping at one of the town’s many markets.
Among the many markets in Hua Hin the Night Market at the centre of town is probably the most popular. The market only opens at 6 pm and although most stalls close by 11 pm, there are some food stalls that remain open till dawn. The market offers visitors interesting insights into the lives of the locals. It is the ideal place to try out freshly made, delicious Thai food. From fresh seafood to barbeque chicken and even lobster, one can find all kinds of dishes here. There are also places that offer Western cuisine.
While a majority of the places sell food, one can also find a number of stalls selling handicrafts, clothes and souvenirs at low prices. The local handicrafts are usually well made and are worth their price. Art lovers may find a few treasures in the small street art galleries to take home. Tourists should remember that when it comes to purchasing goods, a little bargaining is expected. Chat Chai, the popular day market open from 4 am to 6 pm is actually located adjacent to the Night Market and is also worth visiting.
As it is a popular vacation hotspot, finding good Hua Hin hotels will not be too difficult. Tourists who want Hua Hin resorts by the beach can try Anantara Hua Hin Thailand Resort. The resort boasts an idyllic location by the sea, has its own spa and is close to several golf courses; all the ingredients for an unforgettable holiday.
